Over the last several years I've travelled quite extensively throughout America, both on business trips and for vacations. During my journeys around the U.S. I've seen quite a few Kashruth violations while visiting a selection of different hotels and resorts which are billed as Kosher. Many of these places seem simply to have a Kosher front, intending to pull the tallisims' covering over the eyes of an unsuspecting public. Tragically enough, the Kashruth violations aren't so hidden that the trained mashgihims' eyes wouldn't be able to spot them in a flash if they have even a little practical experience in the field. Why is this allowed to happen? Some inspectors may be taking the path of least resistance — nobody has brought this up, so we will continue with the status quo. However, it is also possible that money has blinded the rabbis' and mashgichims' eyes at the hotels and resorts and has worked even better with the secular authorities. It absolutely seems to me as though some of the people involved here are definitely not doing their darnedest to insure that these restaurants and hotels are Kosher in anything more than just name. Perhaps I've missed another possible explanation for what I've noticed, but certainly it seems to me as though this cover-up, with the tallithims' wearers conviently having their eyes covered from what is going on in these places is scandalous.
